The overlay of the back ground is the physical material that the atoms of forming and holding together, with the flicker of the background bleeding through the material structures that the atoms are forming, like air, chairs, etc, but observing it in the air is easier, because the oxygen molecules of less dense than the physical material the atoms of forming.
